How much would you pay for a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid? If you said at least $67,700, then head on down to your local Porsche dealer this fall and someone will be there happy to take your money. That's the price Porsche announced this week during the New York Auto Show as the new, second-generation Cayenne – and the hybrid model – made their North American debuts. The hybrid SUV, Porsche's first, was unveiled during the Geneva Motor Show about a month ago.
$67,700 is quite a premium over the base Cayenne model, but it slots in around the middle of the Cayenne line-up. In addition of the S Hybrid, we will get the Cayenne (starting at $46,700), the Cayenne S ($63,700) and the Cayenne Turbo ($104,800). For your extra money, you get fuel consumption that is up to 23 percent less than previous Cayenne models, Porsche says. Official EPA numbers are not yet available.
The S and Turbo models will be available in July and the base model and the hybrid waiting until fall, showing that the expensive models with either 400 or 500 horsepower (the S and the Turbo, respectively) are a priority for Porsche. Greenies get to wait.
