The Audi R18 e-tron Quattro is official and is set to lead on the race track once again. New technology has found its way onto the Le Mans race model in hybrid form. Powering the rear wheels with 510 horsepower is a V6 TDI. The front wheels will receive their propulsion from a Kinetic Energy Recovery System. The energy upon braking is recovered into a flywheel and fed back out on acceleration. With the added weight up front, the rear gearbox is made of carbon fiber to achieve a better overall weight balance.
The new R18 will make its race debut on May 5 in the 6-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). It will also compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (France) on June 16/17.

Porsche developing 9-Speed PDK transmission that will end manual option
Posted by Hans von Dietrich und.......... 0 comments
As so many sport and super cars are phasing out the manual gearbox, it appears Porsche might be soon to follow. The fact that the question remains to offer only one transmission in the upcoming GT2 and GT3 models (most likely PDK) shows Porsche is serious about an all PDK lineup. Also, the 7-speed manual was only produced because it shared a lot in common with the 7-speed PDK.
Michael Schätzle, who is a project manager for the new 911 revealed that Porsche is developing a new 9-speed PDK transmission that would eliminate the manual all together. He was also quoted saying the manual would no longer be offered by the end of the decade. Roughly 78% of 911 buyers choose PDK globally, and half of all orders in the U.S. are PDK.

Official debut is scheduled for late 2012.

These are the latest photos of the Mk7 Golf out testing in Scandinavia. We still can't see much in the way of the new styling from the camouflage, but it shouldn't be too drastic of a change. Expect an evolutionary design with sharper lines and aggressive stance. Set to debut in October 2012 and go on sale in 2013.

New small SUV from Porsche will be named the Macan
Posted by Hans von Dietrich und.......... 0 comments
The long believed to be called Cajun from Porsche has officially been released to be named the Macan.
The name is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger.
Porsche said “The Macan combines all sports car characteristics with the benefits of a SUV and is a genuine Porsche”. “The name of a new Porsche has to fit with the brand, sound good in very many languages and dialects and evoke positive associations.”
This mid-size SUV will share the same chassis with the Audi Q5, but will be all Porsche with suspension, brakes and engine. It will be built in Leipzig, and there is even rumor of a hybrid.
Set to rival against the Range Rover Evoque in both 3-door and 5-door versions, it is due to arrive in 2013.

It is being reported that these are the first images of the new RS4 avant. However, last week some Audi bumpers appeared online that were said to be from the new RS4 avant. Then the bumpers were quickly dismissed as non-OEM, but rather an aftermarket brand. (See below for the bumpers)
We will have official news from Audi very soon, but until then enjoy the images of what could be the 2012 RS4 Avant.
