Recent intel suggests that a 14 year patent has been approved for the Buggy Up Concept. First shown in late 2011, the Buggy pays tribute to the original Beetle-based model from the 1960s. It's still not clear if the model will make production, but this new patent is a step in the right direction. If VW does decide to green light the fun beach goer, it would be made in small limited edition quantities.

A new LED Matrix headlight system will debut later this year on the next A8. Audi has been developing this for some time, and now more details are known.
Consisting in groups of 25 LEDS, each headlamp has 5 groups for a total of 125 LED's per unit. Working with lenses, reflectors, and a special computer control unit the lighting can be brightened or dimmed depending on condition. For example, if your traveling with high-beams on and an oncoming car is detected, the unit will automatically dim the LED's and aim them lower. This same case scenario also works for weather changes (dark to light), cornering (bending the light), and rain (feeding the light between rain drops for less glare).
This new system will make its way to every Audi in the coming years, providing optimal lighting in any situation.

A new widebody kit from Prior Design has been released for the Porsche Cayenne. The package includes new front and rear bumpers, hood, grill with LED's, wide wheel arches, side skirts, roof spoiler, and rear diffuser with center exhaust. The available upgrade is purely cosmetic, and priced at 8,900€ ($11,800US). There is also an option on alloy wheels.

Spotted testing on the Nürburgring is the new (991) GT2. The test model features front extended wheel arches, wide rear fenders, a front bumper with large intakes, center exhaust, and iconic rear wing.

Power is said to come from the Turbo S 3.8L engine producing 560hp. With an updated 7-speed PDK, 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) is believed to take just under 3 seconds. It is expected to debut next March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

The Audi A3 Cabrio is coming and rumored to debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Built on the MQB platform, it will be based on the A3 sedan, unlike being based on the hatchback like previously. Expect more fuel efficiency and larger cargo/interior. These renderings showcase what to expect, and it's said to appear more like a smaller A5 Cabrio.

It's being reported that Audi's new supercar under the codename 'Scorpion' (also known as R20), has been cancelled.
According to inside sources at Audi through Car and Driver the diesel-electric supercar will not be built. Instead, all efforts are focused on a new Sport Quattro concept that will be shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. (rendering below)
Apparently this decision to halt the 'R20' supercar project was not unanimous, and many at Audi are upset about it. The project has now been shelved with no idea if or when it could be reopened.
The Quattro Hypercar was expected to have 700hp from the combination 3.7L V6 Turbo Diesel (600hp), and electric motor (100hp). It was also engineered at the same level of the new Porsche 918 Spyder.
The timing and decision seem a little odd, given the fact that Audi's R18 did extremely well at the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hours taking the win. Also with the amount of buzz and opposition inside Audi, it sounds like this might be more of a hurdle rather than roadblock. However, until something comes across as official, there is some (little) hope for production.

It's official, Audi has taken the win at this years 24 Hours Le Mans. This marks their 4th consecutive and 12th overall victory of Le Mans. In a close race with bad weather and unfortunately even one death, Audi edged out Toyota by 1 lap in the final minutes of the race.
We look forward to next year as Porsche returns, and hopefully will dominate with Audi for the top positions.

This tuning kit from Wald International includes a new front bumper spoiler, sculpted side skirts, rear diffuser, and trunk lip. There is also a Sports Exhaust System with quad pipes, and Sport lowering springs riding on 20-inch alloy wheels. No official details on performance gains, or other upgrades but an remapped ECU is believed to round out the modifications.

The next R8 will undergo a new transformation from the ground up. The original R8's styling held since 2006, which is remarkable but it's due for a new face.
These renderings from Auto Express provide what the new R8 could look like based on bits of information from Audi.
Some of the new features could include a new bold/striking grill, LMS style carbon fiber hood, matrix-beam LED headlights with new DRL's, smaller side door blades, and an LMS style carbon fiber rear double-diffuser. The chassis, suspension, brakes, and wheel hubs are just a few components that will receive a carbon fiber or CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer) treatment cutting weight down to 3,307 lbs. Power from the V8 and V10 are rumored to bump up to 450bhp and 570bhp.
The interior will have around the same size dimensions, and it's rumored to have a digital gauge cluster, upgraded MMI infotainment system, and Audi's new digital rear view mirror hi-res camera.
The V8 model is thought to be priced around 115,000€ ($150,000 US)

A new report is claiming that Audi will debut a new Sport Quattro for the 30th anniversary of the 1984 edition.
Built on the A5 and produced by quattro GmbH, this new model will be based on the 2011 Quattro concept but with much sharper styling. Power is rumored to come from a Twin-Turbo 4.0L V8 with 650hp. The use of lightweight components will keep the overall weight down and 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) times around 3.4 seconds. Pricing is thought to be near 115,000€ ($153,240 US).
No official word on the model, but it could be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

If this ends up becoming a reality, it's a great turn-a-round for all the disappointed fans of the 2011 Quattro concept (pictured below) that didn't make production.

Volkswagen is very tight lipped about the next Golf R, and while we don't have a lot of details there is still plenty of speculation. DeviantArt member Momoyak has come up with a great rendering based on spy photos and the new R-Line. Rumored to debut this September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the next Golf R will essentially be an Audi S3 in VW clothing.... Will that clothing/styling appear similar to the rendering? We will know soon enough.

Porsche has revealed the new LMP1 prototype while out testing in Weissach. They will compete with this new racer at next years 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans. No details about the car were released, but head of the LMP1 program Fritz Enzinger said - "We are well on schedule. Our newly formed team has worked with utmost concentration on getting this highly complex vehicle on the track as soon as possible. This allows us a few additional weeks for more testing and further development.”

An inside rumor suggests that VW is considering a possible sports model based on the XL1.
Dubbed the XR1, it would offer Porsche 911 like performance with hybrid-like fuel economy. Replacing the hybrid motor, power would come from the GTI's 2.0L turbo engine with 220hp and the DSG transmission. To lower costs, all the carbon fiber body panels would now use aluminum, and real glass (along with new rear window) would be used. Total weight would be around 1875 pounds making the strictly two-seater car capable of 70 mpg, and 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) times under 4.5 seconds.
While the XR1 is still only a project in testing phase, it does sound promising if Volkswagen gives the green light.

Germany's own XXX-Performance has created this blue chrome Audi R8 work of art. Known as the GT-X650, the wide body kit features all new body panels throughout the entire car. The 5.2L V10 produces 650hp with a remapped ECU, new carbon air-box, and sports exhaust system. Riding on 20-inch wheels, it also has an H&R coilover kit.
