Here you see the latest navigation concept from MIT and Volkswagen/Audi. Called the AIDA Project, this technology joint venture between MIT's SENSEable City Lab and VW/Audi stands for Affective, Intelligent Driving Agent.
Using a series of 3D projectors, a large map would take up residence in the unused space on top of the dashboard. Route guidance, destination information, infotainment options and a host of other features would all be controlled via hand gestures that are sensed by the AIDA 2.0 system.
This makes for a great looking navigation, but very distracting. Watch the video of AIDA 2.0 to see for yourself.

2014 VW Passat could bring a coupe & convertible
Posted by Hans von Dietrich und.......... 0 comments
With Volkswagen aiming to become the world's largest automaker by 2018, it's clear the company will have to expand their product lineup.
A new report is indicating the next-generation Passat could spawn coupe and convertible variants. Details are vague, but the models - if approved - would slot below the Audi A5 and compete with the upcoming Opel Calibra (see below).
We're taking everything with a grain of salt, but the redesigned Passat is due in 2014 and should be larger and more luxurious than the current model.

Only one day after the new A6 Avant was officially unveiled. The rumors to the speculation about a possible Audi RS6 Avant surface. Of course it is almost certain that this success model from Audi will be introduced again. The only question is when, the previous generation RS6 was only two years later after normal A6 introduced. Until then, we at least get a lot spyspots and some renderings.
Here is one of the first renderings from AudiBoost. Speculated that the Bi-turbo V10 in the fore-preserved but the rumors of an equally powerful V8 with two turbochargers are doing the rounds. One of these engines will in any case to be utilized again and this time at least 580 horsepower and pulling them the courage and they go towards the 600 horsepower?

Porsche is investigating ways of differentiating the power delivery of electric powertrains in an effort to produce a more Porsche-like driving experience, and to distinguish the performance characteristics of its future electric models from those of its competitors, says Dr. Michael Steiner, who led the development of the just-introduced Panamera Hybrid.
Electric motors produce their peak torque from the moment they start turning, a useful quality but one that threatens to homogenize the acceleration experience, especially as they produce similar sounds.
Steiner says Porsche is looking to combine PDK dual-clutch transmissions with electric motors, the aim being to encourage the driver to rev the motor more, even though this may be slightly less efficient. Changing the windings on motor armatures and using DC current rather than AC also allow the motor's characteristics to be altered.
Steiner says that extended-range electric vehicles, which use an internal-combustion engine as an on-board generator, will not feature in Porsche's plans "because we want the driving pleasure that comes from a responsive engine."
"Extended range EVs are not suitable for Porsche," he says, as demonstrated by the company's just-announced experimental Boxster E, which is pure electric.
Höchsmann Günther, Senior Engineer of Porsche and one of the fathers of the Bosxter E is seen here driving the new EV. It's not easy to understand the behavior of a car like this from the clip, however the silence presents proof of 100% electric.
The Boxster E delivers 90 kW, which should be equivalent to about 120 hp, while torque is 270 Nm settles on This translates into performance claims for the 0 to 100 km / h in 9.8 seconds against the 6.5 Boxster traditional.
At this point we say that for those not satisfied, there is the possibility of the car having two engines. If this is the case you would get 240 hp, with torque of 540 Nm and a value for the test from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.5 seconds.
