Volkswagen has chosen Paris to present its all new 2012 Up.
Announced by different concepts since 2007 the Up (or Lupo) will finally be unveiled on August 22. Despite the abandonment of the rear-engine design that was originally envisioned. The up will rival the Renault Twingo, Ford Ka and Fiat 500 all with the similar front engine designs.
The Up will sport a more fresh and unique look than rivals, and have a very refined interior. Offered in both three and five door versions (available in late 2012). Coming standard will include the ESP stability control and automatic braking system with pedestrian detection. Unlike other VW's, the smallest of the family will not offer (DSG) dual-clutch gearbox. Instead, the UP will have a conventional five-speed automatic transmission. Power is said to come from a three-cylinder 60-70hp. The four-cylinder versions and natural gas option will follow in 2013.
More secure details will be released in the coming weeks as we get closer to the debut date.
