Audi's head of R&D Wolfgang Dürheimer confirmed that a new SUV model called the 'Q8' is coming. As previously thought from rumors, the car will have a coupe-like roofline and follow the A8 but in SUV form. The platform will be shared with the next Q7, Cayenne, and Touareg. Whether or not the Q8 will grow in size compared to the Q7 remains to be seen. However, Dürheimer did say "We can go bigger than we have with the Q7, and we can all see that this sector is growing."
Audi's target will be to challenge the Range Rover Sport and BMW X6, and is expected to hit the market from mid 2016 to 2017.
