The concept Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro presented in 2007 at the show in Los Angeles could become a production model, such as a convertible version of the Q5.
At the time the prototype was labeled simply as a foretaste of future aesthetic Q3 and Q5, while the unusual formula Convertible SUV seemed to be just an exercise salon.
Nissan has already chosen this path with the Murano CrossCabriolet (curiously with a code for Audi ... halogen), the German company is still evaluating the feasibility of the project.
According to recent information, the production of hypothetical Q5 with a fabric roof might be coming with a limited 5000 units. If confirmed, it could open up yet another "war" of niches with Mercedes and BMW, as the big three German production is always chasing the market hits new models of design and invention. If Audi were to be successful with the Q5 convertible, we could perhaps see a GLK and X3 with a drop top.
