VW's Ducati-powered XL1 Sport Testing

A few months ago there was leaked information that Volkswagen was preparing a sport based XL1. Now it appears the project is moving forward as VW has confirmed testing is well under way. Head of R&D Hans-Jakob Neusser said engineering, development, and testing of the Ducati-engined XL1 is being worked on internally. Using the 1.2L two-cylinder engine from the Ducati 1199 Panigale it produces 187hp, 91ft of torque, and a redline of 9,000rpm while the curb weight of the model is less than 795 kg (1752 lbs).
No word if VW will indeed produce the car, but a concept version is believed to be revealed in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show.
This rendering from Autocar provides a great example of what the Sport XL1 or XLR might appear like.

2014 VW Scirocco Rendering

The next Scirocco due in 2015 will be completely different than the current version. It will be more coupe like the original and less hatchback (which is why it will be sold in North America, and won't compete with GTI sales).
There is a rumor that Volkswagen might give the current model a facelift refresh before the next 'new' Scirocco. Artist Remco Meulendijk from the Netherlands has created this example of what could be. Using elements from the Mk7 Golf/GTI we see a clean and simple refresh of the possibilities. Enjoy!

Video: Audi's Driving Force

Recently some claimed Porsche inside information has leaked online (on jalopnik) from a dealer meeting. It's unclear if the intel is real or not, so take the upcoming information with a grain of salt.

First, the 911 Targa and Targa S will bring back the fishbowl rear window and removable hard top (nothing new here), but it appears that removable hard top will be fully automatic and folds out of the way with the touch of a button. The new Targa will debut in January 2014 at the Detroit Motor Show.
Second, the Macan will debut late November 2013 at the Los Angeles Motor Show (render shown). The Macan S is said to be powered by a 3.0L V6, and the Macan Turbo with a 3.6L V6 Turbo (no mention of the rumored 4-cylinder base model, or top end engine/model).
Lastly, Coming in 2014 for the Cayman and Boxster is the GTS model (current Boxster/Cayman shown). It will have 15 more horsepower, a sporty exterior body kit, and special interior. It will be revealed in April 2014 at the Beijing Motor Show.
