These are the latest spy photos of the next generation VW Golf Mk7. The camouflage is doing it's job well, however we can see that this new Golf has a larger step or hip to the car. Also the tails appear to protrude out and look close to the Mk5 style. The headlights look to be very Mk5 as well. It is said that this Mk7 will be more aggresive and athletic with it already known to ride lower and have more rake to the windshield than the current model.

Audi working on new design individuality

Audi will revamp their design language to allow the model range to have it's own identity. Audi design director Stefan Sielaff said the sedan/hatch, SUV, and sportscars will have individual themes for each. Called ‘AQR’ where A stands for Audi, Q for Quattro, and R for sports cars. The new design values will include a slope-back angle for the grill, headlight shape and body surfacing all unique to each of the three divisions. For example, the sedan/hatch will have a more sloped-back grill, while the SUV models will feature a more upright grill. This idea will continue with headlights and body surface.

Audi is also working on a different design for the e-Tron vehicles. They will have a styling that reflects the electric nature.

Volkswagen R models future in Diesel

The Volkswagen R performance models are having great success, but now it appears Diesel R models are on the way to elevate that even higher.

The head of R GmbH Ulrich Richter said "The future is diesel and all-wheel-drive". With fuel efficiency a top priority these days, it leaves little room for the gas guzzling Uber cars. Enter a Diesel R - with fuel saving numbers similar to hybrids, a sporty Diesel would have the best of both worlds. With snappy high torque numbers and light weight construction, Volkswagen feels they may open a new door. Of course for you hardcore VW fans, you already know the benefits of tuning a Turbo Diesel.
Lets hope VW will green light this and soon!

Volkswagen dropping 2.5L I5 in U.S.

Volkswagen has decided to replace the 2.5L Inline-5 in the U.S. with a turbocharged 1.8L Inline-4 Turbo.

The new 1.8L 16v turbo four is essentially the same engine as the GTI and GLI powerplant. With smaller dissplacement, it makes 158 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. This is not related to the old "1.8T" VW used to have but rather a smaller version of the new 2.0T 16v.

The decision was made based on fuel economy and ease of manufacturing since it is so closly related to the 2.0T.

No word yet, as of when this change will happen but it's likely soon.
