Manager Ulrich Hackenberg - Head of Research & Development of Volkswagen - has confirmed that the study models Jetta R and R Polo are on their way and will be developed by the division R GmbH. The Volkswagen Polo R-wheel drive that will share the same chassis with the Audi S1 and Seat Ibiza Cupra R, together with the new 1.6 TSI engine that develops over 200 hp.

As for the Volkswagen Jetta R, Hackenberg has confirmed that everything is ready for production of the car, as the House is considering both Wolfsburg and U.S. market for this high-performance version. The car will be marketed overseas as the R and most likely will adopt a V6 engine. If Volkswagen introduces the Jetta with the 3.6 VR6 engine, combined with the 4MOTION four-wheel drive and 6 or 7-speed DSG gearbox. This would be the sportiest version production Jetta ever.
