The Audi Quattro concept is on the cusp of production as a new report is indicating the company has built an engineering prototype for executive testing.
According to Autocar, the vehicle will be evaluated by the Board of Management before they render their verdict for production. Despite the formality, sources are reporting that approval is virtually a foregone conclusion.
Essentially a shorter and lighter RS5, the Quattro concept featured a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 408 PS (300 kW / 402 hp) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. It was paired to a six-speed manual transmission which enabled the 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs) coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
If everything goes according to plan, the Quattro could be launched as early as 2013.
