2012 Porsche 991 Cabriolet rendered

Porsche will unveil the next generation 911 (known as the 998 until just recently, but rumored to be called the 991) in 2011. And even if the car is currently under hard testing, there are still a few people out there who will try their hand at providing a rendering of what it could look like.

Compared to the 997, the 991’s front lights stand more upright with the side mirrors having been moved from the side window corner to the side of the door. The rear wing will be inspired by the one from the Panamera. Also, the quad exhaust tips aren’t fitted as flush as the 997 model.

Porsche will not stray far from the usual formula with the new turbo. It will still be powered by a water-cooled flat-six engine, only now the automatic transmission available will be the quick-shift PDK dual-clutch transmission.

The new generation 911 will be unveiled in 2011, starting with the base models - like the Carrera - with a new version coming out every few months.
