STUTTGART, Germany — Porsche took the pulse of the Panamera on Friday and reported that customers prefer the beefier versions, with the 400-horsepower Panamera 4S "at the head of the charts, followed by the performance-leader Panamera Turbo." Sales of the 300-hp Panamera V6 are described as "strong," but they still lag behind the more powerful versions.

Porsche reported that it has sold 9,394 Panamera 4S units worldwide since market launch a year ago. It sold 6,171 Panamera Turbo vehicles, followed by 4,563 Panamera S models. "The six-cylinder-model Panamera introduced only a few weeks ago has already been delivered to 2,390 customers," Porsche said.

Total global sales of the Panamera are pegged at 22,518.
