It's being reported that in 2012 Volkswagen will release a Passat cross-wheel-drive version on the market. It will have 4Motion and receive a more rustic look, but also technically be a utility vehicle with high ground clearance.

Based on the new model variant of the Passat 4Motion, which will have 20 millimeters more ground clearance, roof bars, a color guard aluminum casing and protective plastic body fenders and side skirts, with rough-road suspension for off-road use. Added to its own high-quality finish line, with sports seats, among other things, 17-inch alloy wheels and fog lights with cornering. In driving the Passat takes either a 2.0 TDI (140 hp or 170) or a V6 gasoline engine with 300 hp.
