2013 Porsche Boxster S Leaked - First Images

These are the first images of the all new third generation Boxster (981) set to debut soon. Compared to the current model, it has a lighter body (35 kilograms lighter), 6-inch longer wheelbase, 4-inch wider front track, and new base engine. The new body shares characterisitcs from the 918 Spyder, and comes standard with 18 inch wheels.

The Boxster S will have its usual flat 6-cylinder engine producing 5hp more over the current model for a total of 315hp. A 6 speed manual and revised 7-speed PDK gearbox will be available allowing the 0 to 100 km/h time of 5 seconds. The base Boxster will have a 2.7 boxer engine with direct injection making 265 hp and 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds. Both engines will come with start-stop systems.

The interior will receive the rising middle console from the new 911 and Carrera GT. The roof frame is made of magnesium or aluminum, and the fabric top opens in 9 seconds (max 50 km/h). Pricing is expected to start around $50k for the base model.

It will be available and in showrooms the middle of this April 2012.
