Volkswagen’s Amarok might be sold in the US, according to a Car and Driver report that cited company insiders. There is no time frame yet for its release but in the meantime, VW is preparing the Single Cab version of the Amarok that is set to be released in the first quarter of 2011.

Details have yet to be confirmed but it is believed that the new model will feature the same engine lineup offered on the regular version. The Amarok features two 2.0-litre fuel-efficient, Euro5 compliant, common rail TDI engines producing 163 PS, with torque of 400 Nm at a low 1,500 rpm, or 122 PS with maximum torque of 340 Nm from 2,000 rpm.

Earlier this year, pricing in Germany was revealed, with the standard version priced at EUR26,203 when powered by the 122 hp 2.0 TDI diesel engine (the base equipment level). On the other hand, the model that is equipped by the bi-turbo 2.0 TDI diesel that delivers 163 hp is priced from €28,900 for the rear wheel drive version. The Highline (top equipment level) all wheel drive model is priced from €37,169.
