The Europeans like teasing the U.S. with cars that don't fit in their market. The reintroduction of the Scirocco is one of those examples. Although just a basic Golf with a fancier suit (the Scirocco is currently pinned as a step up from the GTi), it’s probably one of the best looking cars Volkswagen has ever produced. Even VAG’s US boss yearns to revive the Scirocco for the North American market.

A USA today correspondant asked VW’s Jonathan Browning if he was interested in reviving the famous sports car from the 1980s and 1990s.
“I’d love to….”We were not able to make the case to bring it in this cycle, but in the future, I’d love to see it in the U.S.” Browning replied.

It is a shame that the current Euro Scirocco proably won’t make its way to the U.S., but the 2nd generation looks promising. It also gives Volkswagen a chance to develop a new car from the ground-up which will have even better driving dynamics.
